Today is Thanksgiving, but not for me.
That’s your lot in life if you’re a turkey.
But the reason I’m sad is somewhat different.
I received reprieve from the president.
How can a pardoned turkey continue to jive?
When he’s the only bird being kept alive.
When all his friends end up as a meal.
And his family too. What a tragic deal.
Sometimes I ask why it had to be me.
How is it fair that I should be free?
Such a great burden, to carry this guilt.
It crushes my soul, makes my spirit wilt.
Look at these people, so grateful. For what?
It’s all a sick illusion. Society is nuts.
Giving random thanks, for things like their boss.
“I’m thankful for my cousin, and cranberry sauce.”
Oh, damn! Say what?! I just got a taste.
Turns out cranberry sauce really is great.
I can’t believe I never knew this before.
My eyes have been opened. That is for sure.
And these yams, so good, simply delicious!
I think I can no longer be suspicious.
What’s that over there? Is that some turkey?
For the love of God, please give some to me!
Hey, it’s my cousin, this bird I just ate.
Well, what do you know? I am full of grate!
Now it’s all clear. This is how I should be living.
If you’re still alive, it’s a Happy Thanksgiving!
