We’ve all heard Dr. King had a dream.
For all humanity to be on one team.
But what about all his dreams less known?
None of which stand etched in stone.
As a little kid, he wanted a pony.
It had to be real, not a toy, not a phony.
He’d take care of it, give it lots of love.
Read it Biblical verses from The Man above.
He also had a dream he’d be an astronaut.
With no NASA yet, that really took thought.
He’d grab a spacesuit, and get that thing on.
Hurtle through space, making peace with Klingons.
Another big dream was to be a fire fighter.
When you save a life, they don’t care if you’re not whiter.
Plus you get to ride in a truck bright red.
But its color didn’t matter, just its character instead.
Yet another dream was to be a superhero.
He would put an end to conflict, bring it down to zero.
Whenever he was needed, he’d find a phone booth.
Quickly change attire, wear a super reverend suit.
Maybe these dreams didn’t all come true,
And maybe this account is inaccurate too.
Some of these dreams may be in dispute.
But just ignore that for our MLK tribute.
